Thank You! * Let’s Make Recycled Crafts! ～リサイクル工作・雑貨を作ろう!～

4月19日（日）の「Let’s Make Recycled Crafts!～リサイクル工作・雑貨を作ろう！～」に参加していただいた皆さま、大変ありがとうございました！大勢の参加者と一緒にトイレットペーパーの芯、ペットボトル、古いTシャツなどを使って工作と雑貨作りをし、英語と日本語で交流を図ることができました。

ペットボトルのフクロウ、Tシャツのスカーフネックレス、トイレットペーパーの芯のうさぎなどを作りました。中にはペットボトルのけん玉風のおもちゃもあり、子どもにとても人気で、作り終わったあと、頑張って玉を正しい場所に入れようと遊んでいました。また、小難しいトイレットペーパーの芯を使って作る花の飾りにもチャレンジし、見事に綺麗な作品を完成させていた参加者の方もいました。

また、簡単なお菓子や飲み物も一緒に楽しみながらお話をする機会もあり、最後にリサイクルを心がけたライフハックの冊子も配りました。

次のイベントでまた皆さまに会えることを楽しみにしています！

I would like to thank everyone who attended the “Let’s Make Recycled Crafts!” event on Sunday, April 19th! We were able to make crafts out of toilet paper rolls, plastic bottles, and old T-shirts as well as chat in both English and Japanese with many participants.

We made plastic bottle owls, T-shirt scarf necklaces, toilet paper roll rabbits, and many other crafts. One popular craft with children was the plastic bottle cup-and-ball game, and the children seemed to have trying to get the ball into the cup after they finished making it. There was also a toilet paper roll flower craft that was a bit challenging, but some participants tried it anyway and produced beautiful results.

We also had some time to chat over some snacks and drinks, and at the end of the event, we handed out a packet of life hacks that re-purpose recyclables.

I hope to see everyone again at our next event!

04月19日（日）に前橋市で「Let’s Make Recycled Crafts!～リサイクル工作・雑貨を作ろう！～」を開催します！

地球環境について考える日、アース・デイに備えてALTや国際交流員と一緒にエコな工作・雑貨を作りましょう！家にあるものが、楽しいおもちゃや雑貨に変身します。 英語初心者の方も大歓迎です。

  • 日時：04月19日（日）14:00 – 16:00
  • 場所：群馬県庁昭和庁舎　第35会議室（前橋市大手町1-1-1）
  • 参加費：無料（事前申し込みが必要です）
  •  締め切り：04月17日（金）12:00まで
  •  定員：25名　定員になり次第締め切ります。（＊小学生以下の参加者は保護者の同伴が必要となります。）

    ①ハサミ・のり・カッター・デコレーション用のマーカー等
    ②以下の３つのうち、少なとも２つ：
    トイレットペーパーの芯、ペットボトル（炭酸飲料系）、

We are holding our our Earth Day event, “Let’s Make Recycled Crafts!” in Maebashi, on Sunday, April 19th! Come join us for an afternoon of crafts and conversation.

  • Where: Gunma Showa Chosha, Room 35 (1-1-1 Ote-machi, Maebashi City)
  • Admission: FREE (Registration Required)

Foster Home Visit (02/21/2015) – 児童養護施設訪問

先週の土曜日、JOMO JETメンバーとALTのボランティア3人で渋川市にある児童養護施設を訪問しました。

今回の訪問では、黒人歴史月間を子供たちに紹介しました。ジャンベの演奏と共にアナンシとアナンシの息子たちのお話の読み聞かせをしたり、黒人歴史月間について簡単にお話をしたりしました。また、今有名な黒人アメリカ人をテーマにした神経衰弱ゲームをしたり、人気がある手遊び歌や「Cha Cha Slide」というダンスを一緒にしたりしました。すごい記憶力やダンス・スキルを持っている子供たちに感心してしまいました。

子供と一緒にバナー交換用の横断幕も作りました。2014年8月、ボルティモア市のOtakonというイベントの参加者たちは「OTAKON LOVES GUNMA」と書いてある、手書きの絵やメッセージ付きの横断幕を作り、群馬県に送りました。そのお返しとして、ボルティモア市に送る「GUNMA ♡ OTAKON」と書かれている横断幕に、子供たちは好きに絵を描いたり、色を塗ったり、メッセージを書いたりしてもらいました。色んなメッセージや好きなキャラクターいっぱいの、とっても色鮮やかで楽しい横断幕が出来上がりました！

この児童養護施設の子供たちと触れ合うのは毎回楽しみなので、また近い将来、訪問できることを祈っています！

Last Saturday, JOMO JET members and three ALT volunteers visited a foster home facility in Shibukawa.

We introduced Black History Month during this visit. We told a story about Anasi and his sons while accompanied by a djembe and briefly talked about what Black History Month was. We also played a game of concentration about famous black Americans today and taught them a hand game, along with the Cha Cha Slide. The children had such great memories and dance moves!

We also made an exchange banner together. In August 2014, the attendees of Otakon in Baltimore decorated a banner reading “OTAKON LOVES GUNMA” and sent it to Gunma. So we asked the children to decorate a banner reading “GUNMA ♡ OTAKON” in return to send to Baltimore. They drew and colored in the banner, creating a very colorful and fun banner filled with various messages and pictures of their favorite characters!

Visiting the children at this foster home facility is always a delight, and we hope to see them again in the near future!
