11月29日（日）に、高崎市立南小学校の体育館で「2015国際カーニバル」を開催しました。JOMO JETのメンバーだけではなく、35人以上の在住外国人のボランティアに協力していただきました。多くの参加者が来場し、ポスター、体験、パフォーマンスなどを通して、色々な国や文化に触れていただきました。

今回は、シンガポール共和国、インドネシア共和国、フィリピン共和国、ドイツ連邦共和国、コロンビア共和国、オーストラリア連邦、イギリス、アフリカ系アメリカ人文化、そしてカナダのブースを設置しました。ブースでは、それぞれの国や文化の基本情報を学ぶだけではなく、工作、お菓子、踊り、そして簡単な言語学習などをすることが出来ました。

他にも、フェイスペイント、輪投げ、国旗の色塗りクイズなどのカーニバルゲームに因んだブースもありました。

ステージでは、フィリピンやインドネシアの踊り（スブリとタリ・ムラック）、バンジョの演奏、歌のパフォーマンス、腕相撲などの様々なパフォーマンスや遊びの体験が披露されました。

イベントの最後には、アフリカ系アメリカ人文化のブースのボランティアたちに「チャチャスライド」というアメリカで人気のダンスを教えてもらい、参加者、ボランティア、そしてJOMO JETメンバー全員で踊りました。

ボランティアと参加者の皆さまのおかげで、とても楽しいイベントとなりました。ありがとうございました！また来年、国際カーニバルでお会いできるのを楽しみにしています！

The 2015 International Festival was held on Sunday, November 29th at the Takasaki Minami Elementary gymnasium. JOMO JET members worked together with over 35 foreign resident volunteers to make this event happen, and many participants joined us in learning about different countries and cultures through posters, booths, demonstrations, and performances.

We had booths representing Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Germany, Columbia, Australia, the United Kingdom, African American Culture, and Canada. In addition to sharing information about their country or culture, these booths gave participants a chance to try crafts, snacks, dances, and simple phrases in their languages.

We also had carnival booths such as face painting, ring toss, and flag coloring quizzes for participants to enjoy.

At the stage area, we had several performances and game demonstrations, including dances from the Philippines (Subli) and Indonesia (Tari Merak), a banjo performance, song performances, arm wrestling, and more.

At the end of the event, we had all participants and volunteers gather to do a popular African American dance called the Cha Cha Slide together under the instruction of the African American Culture booth volunteers.
